The weekend prior to Thanksgiving was the perfect time to workshop some of our favorite family dishes. My dad and I prepared a quiet sunday dinner together: stir fried eggs and green beans, an aromatic dish of leafy greens, and a lotus root and fish patty that accompanies rice perfectly. As delicious as the meal was, spending an evening with my dad in the kitchen was even better.

4. the golden patty

once one side of the patty has reached a crisp golden brown, it should be turned over to the other side so that the entire patty cooks evenly and thoroughly. my favorite part is turning over the patty to reveal the beautiful golden color underneath.
